Is this the keyless entry remote that I need? There's so many different auctions saying "might work" or "maybe for....". I don't want to find out too late. Will other years work? I also found the programming instructions for it. Looks easy enough. Anyone had any problems?

Here's the one that is advertised for my car....

Call a dealer or get on ebay and find one you KNOW works, and write down the FCCID number. That number has to be exact, or it wont work.

That is not the right unit. The 96 remote as I have is a "wedge" shape. Plus, not all wedge shapes are interchageable; in fact, most of them are not! I advise also to get new ones from the above site or logan diagnostics.

As long as you have the right FCCID number, it will work, no questions asked. The site I meantioned earlier is a VERY reputable site, and a lot of the members at NICO use that site to get remotes.

Sevillius, give us the FCCID number on the back of your remote.

Sorry for delay; was out of town for a few days:

A 801 602 T

Hope this helps. Note: There is a slight chance the second digit is a B and not an 8. Just slight. Hard to tell exactly.

I surfed to remotesunlimited.com. They want $60 for the keyfob for my 2003 STS.

I surfed to gmpartsdirect.com. They want $26 for the same thing.

GM's list price for this unit is $45.

Looks like remotesunlimited.com is a ripoff.

I bought my 96 Deville remotes from ThePartsYouNeed.com.

I had them delivered in less than a week and the programming instructions only took maybe 10 seconds?

I'd definately recommend them.
