Sounds like your theft deterrent system is working properly. Whenever a RCDLR module is replaced, (it should come with two pre-programmed fobs) the ECM (Engine Control Module) needs to have the new passcode of the RCDLR programmed by a dealer.

Not sure which "problem" you're referring to. RCDLR replacement, ECM programming, or missing fobs?

I've had a RCDLR replaced and the dealer was able to get it to recognize just one (old) fob, so I had to buy a new #2 fob. Certain components have to be re-programmed after replacement, like the infotainment unit (which has to have the VIN flashed into it) for theft deterrent purposes.

Good Evening Randy,

I am glad to hear that you plan on working with the dealership regarding the ECM reprogram. Feel free to send me a PM with your VIN, mileage, phone number, and the name of your involved dealership if you would like me to facilitate this process. Enjoy your evening and I hope to hear from you soon.

Best Regards,

OP - RCDLR problems are rare. Your issues resulting from efforts to save some money by buying parts from non-dealer sources and installing them without supporting documentation & tools are fairly common. These really aren't DIY cars unless you take advantage of some of the available resources and plan ahead.

I hope you're doing well now. If not, let us know. There are many smart & experienced members on the forum. Most like to help.
