key stuck in Cadillac CTS 2006

ok so my key is stuck in the key ignition (Cadillac CTS 2006) so i took it to my uncles shop. they told me i need to replace the shifter so i got a new one and still same problem. changed battery same problem. so at the shop they changed the key cylinder and now i need to program the new key. how can i do that?

There is a manual release for the key under the steering wheel, instructions in the owners manual. Have you tried it?
