Any advice would be greatly honored.......bought a replacement key and remote off of EBAY... took to dealer, said it would cost 60 - 100 to program remote and did the key for free.....tried key didnt work ...came home and programmed remote and it works.....my question is, does the key has to be prog too or should i take the key back..I am looking for an passenger sideview mirror also I ahve an 2008 escalade plat... the mirror is black on top and chrome on bottom, dealer wants 770.00.....I know i can get it for less

The key and remote you can program in 2 mins flat lol and do it yourself,dealer rips everyone off.

This key works fine i bought it and had it cut for $2 and programed it myself.

1. Verify that the new key has “PK3” or “+” stamped on it.

2. Insert the original, already programmed key in the ignition and start the engine. If the engine will not start, see your dealer for service.

3. After the engine has started, turn the key to off and remove the key.

4. Insert the key to be programmed and turn it to on within 10 seconds of removing the original key.

5. The security light will turn off once the key has been programmed. It may not be apparent that the security light went on due to how quickly the key is programmed.

6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 if additional keys are to be programmed.

Thanks for all the replys, now i have another issue when i programmed the remote ..it took.. but the other remote's not working...so i reprogrammed the old remote and the new ones not working...is its something Im not doing right??? and for the key i took it to Cadillac dealer to have it cut and it will not turn..took it back ..they trimmed it a little and still not turning-----do i have to get another???

Program the old one and then the new one while it's still in learn mode.
