This may be a silly question, but when I bought my Escalade the dealer only had 1 key and one FOB so I want to get an extra set made at the Dealership, for the price they charge for the transmitter it seems like a better deal to buy one on Ebay and just have them program it. The question I have is I've seen some being sold signifying #1 or #2 FOB, does it make a difference, how do I tell which one I have and if the dealer is going to program it anyway can I buy either one? Thanks

In the manual you have a page where and how to program the FOB. Easy. Only one advice, if you want to have #1 FOB to be #1 than program it first, than program #2 right after that, don't leave program menu. You will understand what I meant after couple tries :). It took me few tries to get there.

You're definitely better off buying a new remote and key from eBay vs what the dealer charges. When I first bought my truck I wanted the nicer/newer looking key from the newer models (I have '07) and remote so bought them both on eBay, programmed the remote myself (instructions included) and got the key cut at home depot. I think the key itself also has a security chip/transmitter in it but came with instructions on how to program that, too. Much cheaper route to get what you want vs the stealership.

The FOB 1 & 2 is for the preferences of two drivers. Program FOB 1 to your seat, mirror, radio and etc. preferences and program FOB 2 to the prefenences of the alternate driver. If the vehicle is unlocked with FOB 1 it will adjust to those preferencess and if unlocked with FOB 2 it will adjust to those preferences. It's quite handy actually, my wife never drives the Escalade but we both drive her Eldorado. I always have to use my FOB (or push the driver 2 button) before getting in her car because I can't get in with the drivers seat adjusted so far forward.
