So I came to be the owner of a new in box K&N LS2 specific kit for the V1.
Overall it's well built, but has a few glaring issues with fitment.
It's tight. Very tight in the engine bay, and makes contact with the radiator. For those with Alradco radiators you will have to heat and dimple about 8" from the MAF for clearance.
It's a 4" Cai that narrows to 3.5" for the MAF sensor.
I swapped out from my previously installed Volant CAI box.
There is a difference between the two, but I honestly believe it's because of a clean filter that I'm noticing the primary difference.
The sound level under the hood has increased, and the throttle does indeed seem snappier than my OEM box with 4" tube, and the Volant. This may be due to the fact that I drove the Volant for a week during a wonderful Arabian sand storm and plugged the filter up pretty good.
The LS2 specific kit does have the provision for the clean air line to the PVC. It's plastic. A 3/8" brass bung fits perfectly, and is what I used. The line is before the throttle body, and is a little bit of a strange location in my opinion.
Overall I'm impressed with the system, but for the premium price it should fit like a glove.
I am required to have brand name CAI if installed to pass Abu Dhabi vehicle inspection and modification approval. I liked the fitment of the Volant better, but after installing a ported intake, the 4" tube seems to be ideal for my combo.
I am unsure as to why, but my AF ratio is now a ideal 14.3-15.3 vs dipping from 12.3-16.6 with the Volant. Again this may be due to the filter.
The biggest benefit is that I now have 2 filters on hand as they are identical in all dimensions, so next sand storm I can swap them easier.
Hope this helps someone later on researching which CAI if any to purchase.
I did leave the bizarre rubber snorkel that runs from the front grill to the air box area intact. I am unsure if any effect would be noticeable by removing it, but next bumper drop I will be installing a angled pvc opening directly facing forward to potentially direct more air towards the filter.
