Hi guys I purchased a 2013 Cadillac ATS 2.0T performance package with 50,200 Miles with the automatic transmission for 13,700 nada shows almost 18k still. I also purchased a extended warranty which covers engine and trans/drivetrain for 48,000/4 years. A few things were questionable about the vehicle as I was able to get a copy of all warranty claims done by the dealer. There were 4 that stood out: Mileage 21,441 Cylinder 2 low compression(Piston coming apart)-all 4 pistons was replaced, MILEAGE 31535-Severe idle in gear-Torque converter replaced, MILEAGE 40260 oil leak-Timing cover seals replaced, MILEAGE 44,841 Low compression cylinder one(Cracked piston) All 4 pistons and rings replaced. No other issues in the past 6k miles and now I own it. What do you guys think?! I feel I got it for a nice price and got the drivetrain warranty. All work done at local cadillac dealership. Run great and is super strong. I have seen the TSB for ecm reprogram and colder spark plugs. Should I be of any concern?! Also does anyone know if they just replace the pistons at the dealership or a whole new bottom block? All responses appreciated!!!

I believe they didn't fix the 2.0T LTG pre-ignition issue until 2015.

14591 Tech Bulliten: Piston damage due to engine misfire.

If you have further issues then it would be a good excuse to install forged pistons/rods and get an E85 tune.
I did see they Tech Bulliten and saw it was a ECM re-program and colder spark plugs. But not sure why it would have happened again in 2018 after the first replacement in 2016

You would think the piston TSB would have been done during one of the early service visits.
Maybe some damage was done before the TSB was done.

During the last several years, hardly anyone has been talking about piston problems, so if it's fixed well, maybe
it will be fine.

Do you happen to know how they fixed it? Because the first piston replacement was done 06/16 and the other one was done on 10/18 so just 7 months ago! Seems strange to me..
It's a red flag. The second repair should have had a new block because after two failures it's more likely that piston ringland fragments have scored the cylinder(s) walls.

At the very least I hope both repairs were not done at the same dealership because if the same slob did both of them then you definitely could have a ticking time bomb under your hood.

Honestly I'd dump it while it still runs ok.

Man that sucks. I do not know if it was the long block or not for sure but it just says pistons and rings replaced so not sure..She sure runs great though!

So just pulled the spark plugs and found the part number 41-116(the old plugs) and the recall for the ecu reprogram and plug that was supposedly done at 10,000 miles calls for the new plug 41-125 which is the colder plug. Man if the dealer doesn’t do it right who does?!
