Hi everybody! I just purchased a 2008 SRX with the Northstar V8. I've been reading and trying to learn everything I can about it. It's a beautiful car and in great shape inside and out. It does have 170,000 miles on it and that concerns me a bit but I think I got a great deal on it. I plan on going to a dealer and getting service history information and find out what service is recommended now and maybe have it inspected too (probably should have done that first) when the next oil change is due. Carfax showed me a lot but I don't know how complete that is.

One question I have now that I haven't seen referenced is the passenger side view mirror does not adjust up - it always points down. It can be moved up with a little help. Is there a motor in there that can be (easily) replaced?

Also, the Navigation map DVD is probably the original. The latest one I can find is 2016 and GM wants $179 for it. I've seen it on Ebay for $12 or so. I know on my Honda GoldWing motorcycle people have found ways to copy a new map to the CF or SD memory cards so they can stay current - is there a way to create your own DVD with newer maps. If not, will the Ebay cheap ones work?

The mirror unit has 2 motors/arms that attaches at 4 points, and a middle pivot.
I just fixed mine, had to buy a complete mirror to get the glass/backing plate/arms...one arm & 'pivot motor plate' broken, no glass or backing plates(2pieces) it was not easy to locate the parts, kind of 'one offs'/SRX.

Ill try to get some pics/phone/post later. Do not 'pull' on the glass part to get it off, like so many say to do. it pries 'up'to get off the pivot plate, then you can pry that plate off. This old crap is fragile/easy to break/hard to find.

I can't even figure out how to get mine open that far. I got it out but that was it. On mine the wires aren't routed like that, there are three connectors you unplug and the unit comes out. But I couldn't get that pried open for anything. I didn't want to break it so I just put it back in. I'll have to find a replacement or live with it.
