Just noticed something with my 3.6 stock exhaust... not sure if it's normal

Hey guys,

I was reving my car at neutral this afternoon and my brother was standing behind the car and he noted that I get like small back pressure farts when the rpm goes down from 4000 to 600 rpm... one or too back pressure farts.... not very loud because I never realized that from inside the car. It doesn't do it on normal throttling... only when pushed hard.

Is that normal ??? I have the stock exhaust on my '04 CTS 3.6. I asked him to rev the car and I hear absolutely nothing underneath the car and nothing inside the engine compartment. I only hear it at the back. My first reflex was to check around the exhaust manifold but it's dead quiet.

I never felt any loss of power... I'm wondering if it's normal, is that exhaust system more freeflow than most of the standard exhausts ?

thanks

Probably normal. Don't know why you'd rev the engine to 4000 while sitting in the driveway under no load - that's not normal.

I believe later model years won't even allow you to rev it over about 3000 rpm or something - there was a thread a while ago with someone complaining about this.
