I just bought a 2000 cateria and loving it, but seating here looking at the way the car is setup i was wondering if i pulled out the intake resonance switch over value (the control between the throttle body and the mass air sensor) if the car would run and perform better?

thats what im trying to figure out, i know its suposse to give some more torque to the engine but i fell thats one morre thing to go wrong and malfuntion. i do know in 1999 and up that the intake plenum is electric and if its unpluded the car goes in safe mod (run like crap) i will be exspearamenting with this to see how to make it work better.i think the car would run and perform better without the resonance switch over valvae. if anyone has any exsperence with this please help?

Ive never heard of the system going bad to date. There are two parts to it as well, the intake resonance switchover (the part you're describing) and then in the intake plenum switchover itself which is in the white manifold you see visually on the engine. They both combine for different flow levels for what GM felt is the best tuning for the powerband.

This goes over the system:
