Well, so i did it - 1/4 mile with 18sec sharp (RT was 0,92).
Is Eldos engine always so slow and unpowerful or it just because VERY hot day (ca. 32degrees C) and full tank (with bad quality gas i suppose)???
Or maybe i am just that bad driver? :devillaug

Hey vanaisa,

Try 1/4 tank of fuel next time and if possible cooler weather will help lower times some. I'm no expert, and other may chime in to help. Good Luck next time.

Based on the post, I'd say you had a couple things going against you. The temp, and your lack of experience. Try when it's cooler and try a few runs to get your technique down. If you can't do it during cooler temps, you can let the engine cool off between runs and even leave a bag of ice on the intake. Never tried the ice personally but I've sen others do it. I've always just let the car sit with the hood open in between runs. If that wasn't good enough, oh well.
Hey, at least you had fun right?

Yes, i had fun. And already can´t wait next time :rolling:
But does anybody knows, how low seconds this stock 4,5 litre MPF can do?
I think at least 15 sec with good 98 octane gas, cooler weather and not so much weight on board.
And seems, that best time was, when i just put gear to drive (also tried start with 3 and 2)

Ive also heard the best way to cheap out and not use nitrous. Take a block of dry ice (you can buy it at hardware stores in the us) and put it next to your intake....dunno if it works
DRY ice? I'm no expert, but wouldn't that put C02 into the engine? And you really want oxygen? I would think that the intake would vacuum that stuff up instead of oxygen, am I wrong?

OK, this weekend i take second try in Latvia...
This time i put 98 octane gas (half or less tank), take spare tire and beer cases off from trunk :D
And i try keep engine cool (its difficult - we have here allmost paradise wearher 30 - 34 degrees and no rain at all)
Also i changed spark plugs, -wires and check ignition timing.
Oh yes, latvians drive 1/8 mile....
Means it, that i must start with 3rd gear and not change it at all? Second gear will be probably too low???
I am not go there to win of course....but all class winners get complete NOS systems :sneaky:
Any more suggestions?
