I want to jack up the front r/h side of my 99 deville using a floor jack and jack stand to replace the alternator. Can anyone point out where the jack points are for raising the vehicle usnig the floor jack and stands? thanks
NEVER get under the car when it's only jacked up. Jackstands must be in place. Chock the rear tires.
Just outboard of the engine cradle, at the lower control arm rear bushing area, there are hard pads for jackstands. There are also hard pads just inboard of the pinch weld cutouts in the body metal just rearward of the front wheels. DO NOT jack or jackstand on the body metal pinch welds/cutouts.
Lift the entire front by carefully centering the jack and locking one the jack pad raised areas into the hole in the front center of the engine cradle. This is touchy and you must make double damn sure the car doesn't slip off the jack pad.
Safer - You can also lift the front by removing the black plastic radiator sight shield and wrapping a lifting strap around the upper radiator cross-brace. Use a 3 ton engine cherry picker for the lift.
I agree do not use the pinched weld on the outside body frame. I use the lower control arm pad area also. If you use the pinched area it can cause the front fender to become out of align and it is a pain to get back straight.
