Discussions about issues specific to my 2013 Cadillac ATS 2.5L Engine with an Automatic Transmission

Sold it to me with bald tires at Lockhart Cadillac, and when winter came, I could not stop the car and did a 180, rear-ending the vehicle directly in front of me on sheer ice. It was not a high impact accident. Minimal damage, but could have been prevented by honest service departments and salesmen.

Got a VSS error for the Variable Speed Sensor with an ECT error for the Engine Coolant Temperature sensors. I see that the VSS is on the passenger side of the transmission and has one 10 mm bolt holding it in. I also got a misfire on cylinder 2, and my car was due for new spark plugs and ignition coils. I replaced all the spark plugs and the one ignition coil on the second cylinder. Now the VSS and ECT are still erroring, giving an engine overspeed error, and won't accelerate. Then, if I push the gas to the floor, it will go, jerking repeatedly while accelerating. At first, it wasn't making any noise, but now it is making an occasional grinding sound with a large jerking like it could be the transmission having issues.

After replacing the spark plugs and single ignition coil, the engine light stopped blinking, and the stabilitrak error stopped posting upon starting the car, allowing me to enable traction control. However, I still have the ECT and VSS errors. Do I need to disconnect the battery to clear the error codes? Could it be the transmission fluid that needs to be topped off? Or maybe the wiring to the sensor got messed with when loading and unloading it on the U-Haul transport? I am going to jack it up and put it on stands so that I can get under it and look at what may be going on before making any purchases, but I am not liking modern vehicles much at this point. I miss my 1980 Chevy El Camino.

Bummer, but even studded tires are practically useless on sheer/sheet ice. Have you approached your salesperson at Lockhart ???

Your 2 posts, 15 minutes apart, look like you need the assistance and diagnostics of a good local Mom&Pop shop unless you have a terrific inexpensive aftermarket warranty.

(My VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) also has a 10mm bolt securing it. It's a light weight Hall Effect sensor.)
