I've bought 2 now online on EBay and they were both different part numbers and did not work on my 1986 Eldorado. Mine stopped displaying information about a month ago, but buttons still work. The first I bought displayed garbage info and buttons didn't work, the 2nd did the same as mine - no info but buttons worked. I then found they both are different part numbers and someone said I need the EXACT part number - why they made different part numbers that look identical I have no idea. Any help on where to find would be greatly appreciated.

Well I'm not sure it is that because if I put one in with the wrong part number it lights up and gives information - the information is just incorrect. My original one does not light up anymore - but the buttons do work. I'm still looking for one, 9 months later
Just throwing a thought out there.... If you have the 25083989 unit, Gm says the replacement unit is a 25084438 which is for a car with the rear window defroster. Without the rear defroster the number is 25084439. The 4438 unit should be available from 2040parts.com or you could contact Anthony Barlos at [email protected], phone number is 636-397-2216. Anthony does excellent radio repairs at a reasonable price, don't know if he has expertise with A/C units but it sounds like your unit is working except for the display and he might be able to help you with that. Worth a try anyway.
FWIW... This same unit is used on some later model Eldos around 1991 (according to GM), perhaps with a different faceplate on it. Might want to check with a local Stealership for verification.
Thanks I will try. I first tried units off later models, first feom a 91 (with different pn) ans 2nd off an 88 (again a diff pn). They look the same on outside, did have some diferences inside, and neither would control my A/C. The display in both worked just not correct info. Thiught about mixong and matching parts but didnt want to unsolder one and potentially destroy it.
Hey thanks that new P/N worked I found one online on eBay and 3rd time's a charm it worked (that was the 3rd unit with a different part number).
