could i buy a shorter belt and bypass the a/c compressor and still daily drive untill i got the a/c compressor fixed?will this turn the water pump enough as well as seems like 74 inch belt is the right size is this correct?

The pulley on the compressor doesn't turn freely? Is that the 'why' of the question? If the pulley turns ok, then no need to bypass the compressor.

I recall this same problem came up in the recent past. I don't remember the thread though....

Yes, you can use a shorter belt to bypass the compressor. I think 74" is correct, but don't hold me to that.
