Is there a SLS and STS in '92?

I just bought a real nice '92 Seville. This is my first Caddy and I love the car. Trouble is, I don't know if SLS, or STS applies to this car. It has the full center console with shifter, not the column shifter. Does that matter?

(as I understand it) - if you have a body color grill with the badge on it then you've got an STS - if you've got a chrome grill with the hood mounted caddy badge then it's a seville. I'm also FAIRLY sure that the STS was designated on the back of the car.
I own a '92 NOT STS - I don't think it was called an SLS that year - just a Seville -

Cheers

Steve
SteveThefolkie is correct. There was no SLS in 1992.

The only two models were the Seville and the Seville STS.

The differences were "calibration" in suspension and slightly different steering. Interior differences include the full strip of wood on the doors for the STS, and a little segment by the door handle for the SLS.

Both had the 200 bhp 4.9L
Thanks. After reading this I just have a Seville. Oh well, good enough for me.
The big difference came in 1993, with the introduction of the Northstar System. Otherwise the Seville and STS for 1992 are very much the same car. the 4.9L engine has a good reputation... make sure you maintain your cooling system and add the supplemental tabs to the lower radiator hose! They are Extremely important in the 4.9L.

Amen to that - I replaced my thermostat, waterpump and radiator cap about three weeks ago - flushed the cooling system at the same time and replaced the coolant - neglected the barsleak and had all kinds of problems (mystical loss of coolant, the occasional heat spike due to air in the system) - put the bars leak in a few days back and now she runs cool as a cucumber (which I assume is pretty cool) and the coolant level isn't dropping.
I presume that this is due to leaking at the juncture of the aluminum block and iron heads which, having different densities and therefore different thermal expansion rates, must weep a bit from the gasket surfaces.

Also - don't be disappointed about having "just" a Seville - it's a heck of a car - fantastic on road trips - I doubt that I could go back to my soft top jeep again (although when the snow covers the roads my opinion may change!)

Enjoy

Steve
Don't get me wrong, I love this car. I also have a 5spd Mustang GT and I don't want to drive it anymore after being in this Seville. Once you go Cadillac you never go back!

What does supplemental tabs to the lower radiator hose mean? Additional hose claps?

.... I went from a CJ5 to a Seville ....

The supplemental tabs are like a barsleak or stopleak deal - they help to keep everything nice and leak free. I suppose you get them from a GM dealer - I used a barsleak product that someone else on the site mentioned (apparently they're both made from ground ginger) -

Steve
Barsleak GoldenSeal Powder. NOT any other product even from the same brand. OR the GM Supplement tablets. I believe 8. For the 4.9 I think 4 tubes of the powder (with the system empty, prior to pouring in the pre-mixed 50/50, in a radiator hose--never in the tank).

I think it was mentioned that they're both made by Barsleak (the GM part).
