I think that some of them like to knock, lol. After my mechanic installed new fuel injectors and EGR valve on my '91 it started knocking on low speed acceleration... it sounds like a rod knocking when engine is hot. I have just learned to live with it.

are you using premium - 91 or higher gas?

Did you replace the egr solenoid and all egr vac lines yet? I know you were holding off on the solenoid. 30 bucks, one bolt. Super easy to do.

If the system is functioning and timing is proper and you're running premium gas you shouldn't have a knock or detonation
