Not sure why they aren't really marketing this on here but wanted to let you knows know that IPF (who I believe is the same company as KPE) has a tune for our trucks!

10 to 12 hp and 14 torque for $449 ($549 plus $100 forum discount if you mention you're a member on here). Not too shabby. Plus they adjust the throttle response and power band to make it much more enjoyable to drive, supposedly.

Just placed my order for that as well as their bitchin' dual tips ($399 is kinda steep for tips, but they look SOOOOOOOO nice and it's way less than $1500 for a full exhaust) and will post pics and a review of the tune once everything gets here. :)

Oh, and the tune has a money back guarantee so I figured I have nothing to lose if I don't notice a difference or don't like it.

so I installed the tune last night and took the truck for a spin and immediately noticed a difference. Not so much an increase in power necessarily, but the power is now MUCH smoother and more linear. Truck now pulls HARD all through the rev band almost until redline. It's a hoot!

The "dead spot" in the gas pedal is gone now too. Hit the gas and the truck moves instantly with no hesitation like it did before.

Overall I'm liking it. I paid less than $500 for it, so I'd say money well spent. Took a few 0 to 60 runs with my Dynolicious app and it was a consistent 5.8 or 5.9 seconds, which is almost half a second faster than before the tune. Most of that probably being attributable to the removal of the hesitatation/dead spot when flooring it with the stock tune.

Car and Driver posted a 5.6 0 to 60 time with the 8 speed tranny, and 6.1 with the 6 speed. I have a 2015 with the 6 speed, not a 2015i with the 8 speed.

Plus I'm at 5,000+ ft altitude, which saps quite a bit of power from a naturally aspirated engine.

Not sure if it removes the governor or not, but can't imagine it wouldn't.

You should remove it because it's governed at 112 mph. Not even above dodge caravan territory:(

What???

I figured the "dead spot" was a tranny issue. It seems the motor wants to go, but it takes a second for the tranny to downshift. I bet the kit altered the shift programming. What all went into the Mod?

Also, I imagine the limit is more for stopping than going. Just think how hard those brakes have to work if you haul 6k+lbs down from over 112mph. That'd get those rotors glowing!
No there's a dead spot in the gas pedal itself that is removed. Most cars with electronically controlled throttles have them for some reason. The tune doesn't do anything to remap the tranny. Although I think they sell a separate tranny tune. I didn't want it as I have no interest in hard short shifts in my luxury SUV.

As far as what went into it, nothing. You plug the tuning module into your OBD port below the steering wheel, turn the car on (but don't start it), and let the tune install itself, just like tuning any other car I've done in the past. Took all of 20 minutes.

That's the one.

No you unplug the tuning module from the OBD port. Nothing stays in the vehicle except a few extra ponies. :)

No need to re-flash it back to stock for service, but you certainly have the ability to if you want. Dealers can't deny warranty work on a modded vehicle unless THEY prove the mod caused a part to fail. Just Google "Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act", you'll see what I'm talking about.

The nice thing is since you own the module with the tune on it, you can go back and forth from stock to tuned any time you want. Or you can re-install the tune if your dealer re-flashes you back to a stock tune after doing work on your vehicle. This happens all the time at my BMW dealership and I'm constantly having to re-install the tune on my wife's 5 series.

Damn, I'm putting in work here selling your stuff KPE. Where's my kickback?!?!? :) Kidding (sorta)

Yeah, I'm sure my commission check is in the mail, right? Lol!

They DO offer a forum member discount of $100, which is nothing to sneeze at. Can't imagine them doing much more than that. $450 for a vehicle tune is insanely cheap. I paid around $700 for the wife's BMW tune.

Beyond MPG, any trade offs?
There's no trade off with MPG. Any vehicle I've tuned in the past (10+ cars and trucks) has always gotten the same if not better MPG after the tune. That is IF you can manage to keep your right foot out of it. :p
