I've noticed on my car (07) lately that the reverse lockout works sometimes, but not always. I can get into reverse fine, but its not keeping me from moving towards R when I'm shifting for 5th... it's annoying.
Today I noticed it was not working, but then later on (same trip) it started functioning. It's so hit/miss now that I have figured any variables, but I'm wondering if it might have to do with trans oil temp. (I don't see how it could but, I've got nothing!)

Any troubleshooting tips on this greatly appreciated.

That is a relatively simple circuit with the ECM providing the conditional (speed above 3 mph) ground - see attached. The part number of the solenoid is 89059486 with MSRP of $197.21 which is available for less from online suppliers.
