Anyone notice a change in the intercooler cover? It looks like there are some small exposed screws and a smooth top section in place of the previous ribs. Did I miss a thread on this?

ahhh sounds like a sneaky way to void warrantyThe way it is bolted down, Looks like it may be a pressure limiter. If you over boost, it will make a bend on the side of the piece of metal and would show a taletell of too much boost in the plenum.
To be clear, you are at least missing the black plastic cover that normally hides all of the engine bits.OK, the cover or top of the supercharger on my car is clearly different than the others I have seen or in pictures posted online. See pic. Was this a running change? Anybody else have this same cover? Or am I missing something? The part number on the label on the passenger side says part #12631035 with a date stamp of 2/2/09. That label also says made in Germany, but I thought Eaton made the blowers in the US? Maybe the cover is from Germany??
Yes I have removed both the front and rear black plastic vanity covers. I am talking about the metal top of the supercharger. On mine you can see it is flat and smooth, with a rectangular shiny metal plate near the back, all others I have seen have the embedded ridges cast into the metal cover. I assume this was just a running change in the cover design, but I find it a bit odd.To be clear, you are at least missing the black plastic cover that normally hides all of the engine bits.
Or are you aware of that but asking about the metal bits specifically?
I'm confused. For pics of others NOT like mine there is no shiny metal plate on the top of the supercharger and there is no place for one to be put on. Mine has a different design, without the embedded ridges, and WITH the shiny rectangular metal plate affixed into a recessed area with 5 screws. I have not taken that metal plate off to see what is under it, but it seems odd that they would make a cover design change and affix a metal plate with 5 screws in an area that previously was just the top of the supercharger.wait4me said the plate was a way to tell if the engine was overboosted. If it was overboosted that plate would bend out of shape. If you dont have the metal plate and just the grooves than i'm guessing you're pretty lucky
Can anybody confirm the part number on the label on the supercharger cover? The part number on mine 12631035, cross-ref'd at gmpartdirect.com shows description: COVER but a list price of $1550! More than just a vanity cover.
