I'm told the CT6-V is very secure

I needed to replace a key fob so, I went to Car Keys Express who was set up at my COSTCO. They had to order it and have it shipped to me. When it arrived I went over to have it programmed and a new key laser cut. The tech told me it would take 20 minutes. I went in to shop and came out afterwards. The tech told me that looking at the fob he assumed I had an earlier year CT6. He told me the security system the 2019-20 Models we have is much more advanced. So to program the fob, it had to be connected to my OBD II port for close to 50 minutes to complete the process. He joked afterwards that this Cadillac isn't like you see in the movies, where the thief or spy hops breaks in and uses simple tools to steal it. I thought it was an interesting look from a techs point of view how good our cars are. If you ever need a new FOB the dealer will probably want about $700, Car Keys Express charged me $298 as a COSTC member.

Interesting info - thanks! I managed to lose a fob from our 2019 XT5 and ordered an OEM replacement from midatlantic locksmith on ebay. I think it was in the mid $50s for the fob, and for an additional $17 they cut the key based on a photo of the key I didn't lose. :)

All worked as expected when I received the new fob, and the programming procedure in the owner's manual worked the first time (deleted all existing fobs and started from scratch - took 30 minutes).

Looking at our owner's manual, the procedure seems identical to that in the XT5:

That process put my 2019 Sport into key program mode... and just because the remote drowned in the washing machine, it MIGHT still be recognized and work in the fob pocket in the console... My wife washed one of the fobs for the CTS I had prior to my CT6 and at first, it didn't function but it WAS recognized and functioned in the pocket in the console. After sitting on a shelf drying out for a LONG time and putting a new battery in, it came back to life.
