Hey all,
I'm currently living overseas and really excited for my PCS back to the US this summer. I'm looking at 2004-2005 DeVilles as I've heard that the 2004.5 and 2005 Northstars fixed the gasket/overheating/screw issues of the 90s Northstar. I've found some beautiful low mileage 2004 DeVilles, but I'd love to get that 2004.5 engine vice the 2004. How can I determine the model year of these vehicles? Thanks very much for your help!

Welcome Aboard !!!

For the 2005 and earlier Devilles (includes the real DTS) the 10th character of the VIN is the model year. Build date is on the driver's door edge sticker.

Take out a $5 subscription to www.compnine.com - that gives you any five vehicle VIN complete build sheet downloads.

Actually, the 2002 - 2005 FWD Northstar is a pretty reliable spread, with the 2004-2005 being the best. 1999 was the worst.
