Got this from Cad Company today:

Cam CTA 120 TD kit (cam, lifters, springs, etc) $329


Headers $495


PCIII $350


Tranny cross member $225


shipping $45 +/- $15 (just a rough guess assuming you’re in the cont. 48 states



Total: ~~ $1444

and don't forget about this:

Timing cover gasket set $29

Valve cover gaskets $10 (stock style rubber) $20 (double thick nylon impregnated cork)

Intake gaskets (composite) $20 (unless you want to use the original steel pan with the aluminum intake)

Timing set (chain and gears) $65 for OE style all steel timing set or $129 for the Cloyes True Roller timing set (not required, but it would be a good idea to change the timing gears even if you don’t do the cam)

For a grand total of $1632.00

Hope I win the lottery cause that's the only way. Maybe just the headers and duals. Took the hearse out last night and I've got to tell ya she runs pretty damn good. If it aint broke don't fix it.

I didn't know that there was an alternative to the steel pan. Any performance increase, etc?

No.....the gaskets are just an alternative to the pan.
Actually, the pan keeps the hot oil off the bottom of the intake which may help keep the intake cooler......?

Sasquatch, what kind of motor are you plopping these goodies on? I'd be concerned about trying to mod up a tired motor (yes, people do it all day long and I have, too... but I wasn't happy I did). I think you've got some good parts picked out but may not be coin well spent - all my opinion as this could easily be disputed. I'd set a larger plan up for a motor if you're really wanting to build it up, and plan on keeping the rig long enough to "drive" the money out you'd be putting into it. I also understand that you're budget-maxed as it is, and any larger may not be in the cards. So what are your intentions/plans Sasq?

Also, Lux is correct - I considered going with gaskets since I hate that damn spendy pan, but the pan puts such a large gap between the lifter valley and intake that it will help keep the intake charge cooler. Also, after pulling the stock intake off my 500, there was a ton of nappy oil chunks and debris on the top side of the pan (weird, I know), but better in there than the bottom end.

A 472 in my 69 Caddy hearse. To be honest she runs pretty darn good as it is. I was just curious and had exchanged several emails with Cad Company and those were some of thier suggestions. I think I MIGHT try the headers and the duals to let this baby breath better. The cam and the rest at this time for me and what I want from my car really isn't necessary. It never hurts to ask. I tell ya one of the best things I ever did was change over to HEI. That was an easy, cheap, bolt on that made a huge difference in get up and go.

The appealing thing about most of those mods is that you can keep them should something happen to the motor - all the "hop-up" stuff from my 472 is going to the 500 already. Headers and new pipes would be great if you planned on a 2115 or hogged out intake, and cam down the road.

True assuming pipe diameter and mufflers were chosen accordingly (overkill = :canttalk: ).

Yeah a 2.25" would be great because the stock collector and cat conv (if you still have it) are extremly restrictive.
