Viper thing? Are you talking about he thing where the company bought one and would have people pay to have it keyed or w/e?

Anyways, this seems a bit harsh, but if the cars are made from stolen parts then it seems justifiable to me. Now if they were crushing any car involved in any sort of street racing then it'd be way over the line. I mean we all like to have fun once in a while, but of course, not all of the time, and never to a foolish level.

Hmmmmm, So would you rather have your car taken and crushed or taken and coverted into a vehicle for law enforcement to drive around ?

I would rather not have my car stolen by the government and used as a propaganda tool to make it seem alright.

If the car is built from obviously stolen parts, crush away. If the car is built from legitimately bought parts that are legally purchased (not through drug money) then it is ILLEGAL.

Sorry...will get back into the other thread when I have time...my thur/fri/sat are super busy, now that I'm in the bar-owning business.

And not that I don't have "time" now...but I want to be able to put intelligent answers and responses and arguments there...not 'quarter after four in the morning' ramblings.

The real issue is 13 people have died in street racing since march. So the punishment is fitting because nothing that has been done so far gets them to stop or think twice. Its not about who stole what parts.

I dont think the article really says that all of the cases were as the result of stolen parts. In fact, I think the authorities merely suspected it in some cases and had no real proof.

With the potential for loss of life, especially of innocent bystanders I suppose I can see they felt they had no other choice but to use these guys to send a clear message of non-tolerance. These ricer guys often have seemingly endless budgets for their little habit and its nearly impossible to stop them. Add to that the fuel movies like the Fast and Furious series and various racing related shows add to the fire, and its practically unstoppable.
