What's a 'wreak' ? Did something 'wreak' havoc with your car?
If you meant "wreck", as in collision damage, then I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune.
The metal and glass in most automobiles is designed to "krinkle" away to absorb the kinetic energy of a collision. Physical forces are best diverted away from the carbon-based life form which is more difficult to repair and or replace. Sheet metal is cheaper than human parts.
The Neutral safety switch is a gizmo, to put it in technical terms, that prevents the car from starting with the transmission in any gear but Park or Neutral. It's probably not a deal breaker, unless the interlock also prevents starting in those gears. If it does, it should be replaced by a competent mechanic.
