to make a long story short, there is a 95 eldorado in my city that is selling for just under 8K. It has 72k miles, dark blue (my favorite color). Those are the only details i know as of now (havent had a chance to check it out)

here is a pic

I think this is a good deal, because it is near my house, and i know the guy that owns the dealership.

I went by there today, and it is gold with a black vinyl top. They want 8200 for it. The condition looks good, but i have yet to see how many miles are on it. I am going to call today hopefully, and ill get back.

the SLS i actually got to get out and look at, and it is in great shape, the interior is nice too, doesnt look like too many miles, but the dealer was closed that day so im not sure.

OK, I got info on both of the cars.

The 96 has 88k miles, is a 1 owner, and was owned by the grandfather of a major car dealership in Muncie, IN.

The other one, a 94 SLS, has 130K, they want $5000 for it. The guy said that just before it was traded in the owner put in about $700 in service. It really looks like it has about 20k on it.

Also, both of them have been inspected and serviced by a mechanic, and if they found any thing wrong they fixed it.

Well.. I usually don't listen too much to what a dealer tells me about the previous owners and stuff like that.. My Brother and I have found the information tobe untrue almost all the time. And, they're trying to sell the car so they're going to tell you good stories... If they didn't, they would be in another business...

The 94 with 130k has a lot of mileage.. There's just no way you're not going to run into problems.. That's what I think, anyway. I'd spend the extra money and get the 96.. Do a CarFax and see if it really had one owner and check out the mileage as well.. With 88,000 miles, the car has a long life ahead of it...

Ok thanks for the info. I really dont think this guy is trying to lie just to sell the car. He is guy that is local, and his car lot has about 15 cars on it. My dad knows him, and he is a good guy. I would still do a history report just to be sure. I think that he buys cars from other dealers around the area and tries to sell them. Also, its just about in spitting distance from my house, so i cant really go wrong with that.

Do you think that 94 with 130k and they want $5000 is a little much? (price wise). The guy said it was just serviced and has new brakes, and got "tuned up". The guy must obviously doesnt know hes talking to someone who knows what he's talking about. Im sure that it would run fine for a while, and they start breaking. And, i wouldnt be able to get an extended warranty. Ill prolly end up going with the 96, just put a little extra on the home equity! Anyway, tell me what you think.

I think a car with 130,000 miles that recently had the 100,000 mile tune up should be in good shape. What ever car you decide on be sure to activate the diagnostics. It can tell you many things. You can also check carfax for $20.

do you mean the OBDII? Would the people at autozone be able to test out those things with their scanners. Because as it turns out, there is an autozone right across the street from the dealer.

Does 5000 for a seville sls with 130k seems a little to pricey. Ive seen ones under 100k for less than that.

How long do these cars last before having major problems. Lets say on average.

Ill prolly end up going with the 96. It is a 1 owner. I like that. I figure if they can spend the $40,000 for them, theyll be able to spend the money to maintain them properly.

Tell me what you think

$5000 doesn't sound ridiculous if it's in nice condition. It IS a Cadillac Seville.. So $5k doesn't sound unreasonable.. Unfortunately, I'm a rare exception when it comes to the question, "At about what mileage does a Cadillac start giving you problems"... My '95 ETC started having major problems around 110k.. It costed me A LOT of money... That's why I'm afraid of a Cadillac that's already got 130k on it.. But, maybe all the 110k repairs are already done.. Can you get a service history?

He said it was owned by some old guy before. I asked for them and he didnt seem to know what i was talking about, but i was probably vague. I talk fast.

As ive been thinking, 130k is a little much. I am getting financial help from my parents, and they thought it was too much, although they grew up in the era when you didnt see many cars over 100k.

As with yours, the owner may not have taken good care of it. I dont know.

But 8200 for a 96 with 80k seems like a better deal.
