i have a 1984 eldo coupe and it been a great car but there is a big problem. It all started on my ride home when i opened up the ash tre and put the cigarette lighter into its slot. Then my radio shut off a d my lights turned off. Now my lights do not automaticaly come on my radio turns to the same station when i turn it back on no matter what other station it was on and when i open the doors while listing to the radio it shuts off and goes back to the station. anyone know what i should do please help

ok sounds good just hadent had the time to do anything yet and was hoping i would know egactaly were it was i was pretty sure it was a fuse but just wanted to check if anyone has some exrta by all means please post.what damage to radio do u mean

You have blown a yellow fuse, usually labeled BODY. in the fuse box. If you look under the ash tray as you slide it out you will see the wires to the socket, usually they are loose and contact metal, popping the fuse. Also ck the rear lighter sockets for tin foil, dimes etc in them. They dont get used except for trash and anything metal in the lighter socket will pop the BODY fuse. . The radio acts up because the constant 12 volts to retain radio station memory is supplied by this same fuse, as well as door jamb switches and usually power door lock switches. If you cannt see the label Body on the fuse box, just pull the yellow fuses one at a time till you see the blown one. Hope this helps.
