Well, I spent 2 hours trying to change the engine oil and tranny fluid last night. With the coilovers, I needed 2x4s to get the V up the Rhino ramps. Then I needed to jack it up higher to get stands so I could get underneath with some semblance of room.

And it still was tight. I don't care if you're smaller than urby or Tony, it's tight. I had to go slow because of the cats staring me in the face. Undoing the plugs was easy. Then I attempted to pump the tranny fluid back in. The pump fit the Mobil 1 bottles. But there was a crack or something inside the plastic pump. It was like using a straw with a cut. So I had to use the suction gun...alone. Sliding on the creeper under and out from the V about 13 times, and I was done...

Then I drove to the touchless wash to get the undercarriage clean. And hey, it worked. The V, that is. It still runs!

But damn, I need a lift.

I decided the same thing, Jim. I just got a jackshaft garage door opener and high lift tracks put in my garage, and now it is time to go lift shopping. I think Lastss had a similar setup, but my garage is high enough that I think I'll be able to use mine for a parking lift too. I won't be able to fit my Trailblazer and V in there, but I will be able to fit a lower profile car like a Vette in there with the V:thumbsup:

High lift tracks, what are these? Pics/link? (Trying to plan my garage with a lift when I get a new house later this year...)

Anyone who installs garage doors in your area would be able to do this. My garage has a high ceiling (can't remember the exact height, but close to 14 feet iirc). The first garage door I had was on tracks that only brought the door up about eight feet and pretty much cut the garage in half. The new thing I had installed put the tracks up to the ceiling with a more gradual pitch (high lift). And I had an opener (Liftmaster) that turns the jackshaft directly, so now when I open the door, it is up on the ceiling with no opener apparatus in the way.

If I can get up off my lazy butt tonight, I'll try to PM you some pics. Not rocket science, but cool nonetheless.

I'm looking into four poster lifts now.

Thanks for painting the picture in my mind. That is going to be an awesome setup! Looking forward to pics once you get the project completed! Good luck.

Man once you get a lift you will find all sorts of oil leaks, marks where a mechanic scrubbed the lower parts of your fenders (Vette's) the smashed pinch welds like on my V, the rear diff leaking, then you will want to wax the bottom of the rear facia, then move on to cleaning the insides of the wheels then look at the inner wheel houses and clean them, find the stone chips on the bottom of the front valance, heck you might even have to buy a Vette so you can park a lower car under one of your other toys.
My ceiling height is only 10'4" I cannot park the Impala SS over top of the V.:thepan: The wife will tell you that you are spending too much time in the garage.

It's evil don't do it. You will love it too much once you get one.

the smashed pinch welds like on my V
Can you bend these back to straight to utilize a regular press jack with pinch weld adapter... my V didn't come with a scissor jack or any jack for that matter, so i was gonna pick one of these up to put on the floor jack i have access to... http://www.purems.com/products/product.php/II=833

seems the previous owner found out the hard way that you cant use a regular floor jack... only the front drivers side is a bit smashed so not too big a deal...

In total agreement here, bigjim. Would love to have a lift ... creeper takes up too much of the available space, so I keep a nice, clean, large piece of cardboard and lay that under there. Fairly easy to slide on, too, with my old sweatshirt on (5'10" 180lbs i.e. normal size :D). Even then with the Rhino ramps, you better not be farsighted 'cause it's all there staring you right square in the face!

BTW, CTSV OWNER ... nice ... VERY nice!
