I love this car!

While I am having a problem right now with an idiot light that is on when no problem can be detected visually, I really do love this car...the ride (even with my sciatica), the sound system, the handling and it hasn't killed me on gas. And, it is beautiful! Besides anytime you go from an 18 year old car with 345,000 miles, to a 5 year old car with 54,000 miles...you know the feel is sweet!

That feeling is weel represented here for sure... same here: I purchased mine of a whim... my father had a Cat 2000... whne it was time to change my 92 Maxima SE, my father suggested I look at the Cats...

I did, and got a really good deal... I don't regret it... I got mine with 48 000Km and now have 140 000Km and still going strong... aiming for 250 000Km...
People keep telling horror stories about this car but when I had mine I loved it as well.
Ditto to all, even though each car has their problems the ride, response & audio everything is overall fantasic!

My last car I bought new put 247,000 miles , 77k now & counting

Gotta Luv those Caddys!!!
I've got to agree. Even though there are more than enough horror stories flying around, and I have some problems with mine as well, I love the car. There are enough gadgets and electrics to play with, the ride is great and the car just flat-out looks good! I bought a 12-disk CD changer off of Ebay, hooked it up to the pre-wire, and the Bose just sings to me. And 28 mpg on the highway is far better then the 17 I got with my previous ride. Mine's a '97 (THE year for horror stories) with over 78,000 on the clock, but it runs well and I don't mind the occasional restoration it requires from time to time.
I think what we have to remember is that most people speak up when something bad happens but satisfied people stay quiet. Most of the posts you see are from people with problems, which is what this site is designed to help with. If everyone who owned a Catera were to voice their opinion, I would say it would be about 50/50.

It's a pleasure to actually read about happy Catera owners! I bought my 2001 new,and I've been utterly thrilled with mine. The suspension setting and steering are perfect-really have that snubbed down, euro feel.

It is still a true joy to drive-getting it towed twice out of my garage on Caddy's dime is another story...
99 days of 100 are spent loving this car's performance. Any and all of my past 24 cars have had there good days, and bad days, and some have been much worse than this one by a long shot! Another thing I like about the Catera is it's rarity in an ocean of BMWs, Acuras, Mercedes and even other Cadillacs when you're cruisin' home from work! I've had so many people looking over at my 2000 Cat Sport wondering what type of car it is. I'm really enjoying this car, and I'm quite willing to repair/service it when it was 'I' who chose to purchase a 'performance sedan' to begin with.
whoa whoa tomcat u said u got 28 mpg on the highway. how in the world do u manage that!!!! pleese tell
 It's true, it's true. I've made three 600-mile trips in the last two months and I got between 27.5 to 28 every time. My son-in-law was getting that for the last 1.5 years he'd owned it. Nothing special was ever done to it as far as I know. I don't use the sport option very often and I'll travel 75 to 80 on the highway. Around town it gets around 21 mpg. What do you get?
yeah i get crappy gas mileage in town but out on the interstate i can get almost 31 mpg over a 1000 mile trip. use the cruise control and don't stomp on the gas petal and you will see it to. Now for the topic of this post I love my Catera I think we all do thats why we pour boat loads of money into these things and of course we all bitch when it breaks down because it feels like we just fixed it last month. I had to replace head gasket twice, valve cover gaskets three times now about change out the 2,4,6, ignition coil pack, replaced the rearend gears broke apart. so I have spent alot of money on this car but I will probaly keep it even when I buy a new car but probalby not another one. lol cause I don't have the time or money to work on two of them.
