Hey everybody...whats up? I am a college student from Detroit MI (Home of the Cadillac!) and i recently purchased a 2000 DTS back in December. Silver with gray interior, 10,000 miles at the time (20,000 now), fully loaded with every factory option. And i LOVE this car. I used to drive a towncar and was a Lincoln fan until i drove this car. So stylish, high tech, so much history behind the name, and the silky smooth engine. Since purchasing this car I have had a big interest in learning all about the Cadillac marque and its history. I thought this site would be a great place to learn a few things. Peace.

thanks ralph...yes the 2000 DTS also produced 300 hp. I know there have been quite a few changes since 2000 to the 2003 model...but i'm not sure about mechanical changes. The 2003 has differnt badges (new logo), differnt chrome 17's, the DTS now comes with Michelins instead of the goodyears, turn signals in the mirrors, new 6.5 inch navigation screen (i think this was available on the 2002 model also), 3 seat save positions (instead of 2 for the 2000), tire pressure monitor, fixed seatbelt, 2 more extorior colors, XM radio option, and the tailamp has been revised even though i cant really tell the differnce. Other than that i'm not sure of any other changes. I am happy with my 2000 but would love a 2003...all the ''bugs'' seem to have been fixed.

My dad didn't bother ordering the chromed 17's, and I think it still looks ok. Seems like you know quite a few of the changes.......interesting. The thing I noticed (and don't like) about the the tire-pressure monitoring system, is the fact that it only shows one tire at a time. I found it distracting while driving the DTS on the highway. Mind you, I guess one should check the pressures BEFORE driving. I kinda like Chrysler's tire monitor system better because at a glance, it shows all 4 tires and their pressure. Plus, you don't have to keep your hand on the little scrolling button 'cause everytime you hit a bump, you have to relocate it. He also didn't bother with the night vision (a 4,000 dollar option in Canada!!) or the sunroof. I know other cars in our family had a sunroof, and after a while they all tend to leak eventually. But that White Diamond paint, man I could stare at it all day.

Silver is a great color too, tends to hide the mess after a rain. I read in the new Cadillac magazine "Vision" that most people order their Caddies black, and it is the most common color for them. Just like 100 years ago, black was the ONLY color you could get for them. :crying2:

yah silver does hide slight dust and dirt pretty well, same with tan/chamapgne...i used to have a black lincoln town car, i think black is a very classy color but so hard to take care of. The slightest dust shows up on it and if you dont wash it very carefully, all the small surface scratches start to show in the sun and all body imperfections like small dents are highly noticeable too.
