Hey guys, thought I'd share with you my latest Cadillac. I picked up a 89 Brogham d'elegance tonight. The car is in very good contition and it runs great (better than my 85 FWB), other than a nice detail, it needs few things to be done to it:

Mechanical problems:
The cruise control doesn't work, a valve cover gasket needs replacing, and the catylatic converter.

Cosmetic problems:
The exterior has good paint, good top, and chrome. The front bumper is slightly bent on one side. The rear bumper is also slightly pushed in on one side. The interior only needs the front door pannels replaced (the lower portion where you rest your arms).

It may seem like the car needs a shit load of things, but in actuallity this is no where near the problems that my 85 had. Now for the price I got this car for, these minor things should not be too bad. I only paid $900 for it.

I'll try to post some pictures of the car tommorow. Let me know what you guys think.

love the '89!

bumpers are at junkyards all the time.

cruiser control... check vaccum lines going to the servo thingy, clean electrical contacts on it.

leaky valve cover gasket... eh, valve covers can be a pain on the 307... have fun :)

IIRC wasn't 1985 the first year for the 307? I thought the RWD HT died with the RWD DeVille... no?
Nope, the 1985 RWD sitll had the 4100. 1986 was the first year of the of the Olds 5.0 307.

You'll notice a difference with the 307 Over the HT4100. Congrats! WHat color is it? Let's see some shots.
To be honest with you the 307 is not that much more powerful than the 4100. There is a noticable difference in power between the 307 and the 4100 but it's not like the difference between day and night. I think my 4.5 will gun down a olds 307.

The color combo (not my favorite) is white exterior with that special top (like the one on the 90-92 Broughams), with burgandy leather interior. Yeah I know its the pure 80's old man pimp look, but hey for $900...

Yeah, I'm positive that the 4.5 deVille would slaughter a 307 Brougham.
I believe in '89, all the models except for the Brougham would do 0-60 in less than 10 seconds. I'm almost positive that the Brougham would need like 12 seconds.

or like they say in the movie "Blazing Saddles", the 4.5 deville would "pull a number 6" on a Brougham in a drag race!

As far as I know your are correct about the Caddys of 89 running from 0-60 in less than 10 seconds (except the Brougham).

I'll hope to snap a few shots later today of the 'new' Brougham to share with you guys. Oh yeah the car has 83K miles on it (I forgot to mention that).

I've seen my Brougham do 0-60 in 10 or less. However mine is running with a brand new remanned carb and fresh new plugs. Maybe in their older age they'll develop some sluggishness but mine runs like it's brand new in my opinion. With all the money I put into it in the past couple months the ride in that car is satin smooth.

Dopestar, WOW! If I had a brougham w/ 307 that could do it in less than 10 seconds, I would be extremely happy! I read that a '91 Brougham w/ 350 could go 0-60 in 9.4 and the 1/4 mile in 17.1

1990 Caddy Brougham,

What differences do you notice between your brougham and your '96 Town Car? I have driven both, and would have to say that I prefer the Brougham, but the T/C rides better, but handles like total slop.

Nice looking car!!! I think the colors are classic all-American Cadillac all the way! How many cars can you get with a red interior these days? :) I love it! Have fun rolling down the road in that beauty! It appears you made a very good purchase. Dave

Hey--I like the color combo!

But yeah, even if you don't, for $900 and a car in that good of shape, who cares what color it is? Well, as long as it isn't light blue...

What's wrong with white and red? THat's one of my favorite colours for those 80s ones. THat and black and red interior or white with white leather. And it's a D'elegance too! Like Night Wolf said you should be able to find all those parts you need at a junk yard pretty easy.
