... I did do a 3500 clutch drop...one hop and the wheels just spun.. but it was a little wet out.... so I started looking for some dry road... found myself going around a turn... in 1st... got on it... car jumped forward... shifted to second... *SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK*... shifted to third... smooth... WTF?

I then put myself on the freeway entrace... did the same thing... punched 1st gear.. car jumps forward... shifted to second.. *SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK*

What are the symptoms if the cradle bolts are torqued to 90ft lbs not 180 ft lbs? I requested the cradle bolts to be torqued to 180 ft lbs for the front bolts/140ft lbs for the rear bolts....

Oh yeah... one more thing... either i'm getting a lot of road noise or my diff is whining. Almost sounds like a muffled maggie... only happens when I really get on it...when i lift off the gas...the sound goes away... when i step on the gas again.. sound comes back... is that road noise, gear noise or the diff?

I noticed more gear noise with the new bushings in a brand new diff...just like you said. Didn't realize what a good job the old bushings were doing. I just turn up the radio or punch it and let the Maggie drown things out:thumbsup: ew

BTW--how about some "rear smacking "graphics:p

That's not right, the bushings work very well.

The smacking for a hot 1 - 2 shift is what I noticed as most improved. I would either check it out or have it checked out. Doesn't sound right.

I am also hearing whining under power that I did not hear before. I thought it was coming from the transmission and I just never noticed it, but who knows.

I got new bushings and the car feels tighter. It also makes two clunking noises, one when putting the clutch in shifting, and another when releasing the clutch putting it in gear. They supposedly fixed my diff but that remains to be seen.

I definintely got more clunking with the bushings... I guess I could live with that.. although sometimes.. the clunking hits with such a hard bang I feel like rear diff just fell out from underneath my car. I found that I could avoid some of the clunking by gingerly applying pressure when engaging and disengaging the clutch.

I took my car back to the dealership, they're going to retorque the cradle bolts, do an alignment... and we'll see what happens.

The whine you hear "on the gas" could be the water pump...I took my tech for a ride to have him hear it and he swore it was from the rear...PS-it only happens in 5thgear or 6thgear at roughly 3K rpm when temps are above 194degs. The whine sounds like it is from the entire cabin...go figure.
-check the FAQ for the TSB-
They're replacing it now....

I would also suspect improperly tightened bolts.

As I said in another thread, the bushings are a big improvement over nothing, but and this is my opinion, I don't believe that the hop will ever be eliminated 100% in EVERY SITUATION.

But, with whatever the choice you make, any major reduction can only lengthen the life of the involved parts.
