On the way into work yesterday morning 6AM ,morning rush into Boston , cruising about 50 MPH , Steady traffic in the middle lane [RT 93 south] , middle lane came to a dead stop , I couldnt see in front of the VW Passat in front of me and he wasn't paying attention till the last Milli second he slams his breaks , I did the same ,well I had to let off the breaks due to my back operation , I then got right back on them , but not soon enough and I knew it , BAM , I nailed him , as we where moving over to the side I had a few chosen words I was yelling towards my self , all I could do was think I only have 600 miles on her and she is gonna need work , I am telling you I slammed this guy pretty good baseball hat flew off his head and everything ,
As I got out of my car and looked at his car I couldnt believe it , I then looked at my car , He was then getting out of his car by that time , I looked at him and said WOW NO FREEKING DAMAGE TO EITHER CAR , I had far less of an impact with my Lincoln LS and totaled out the front end , all I can say is I had a little CTS angle:angel: looking over me , I still cant believe it:D :D :D :xgrin: :xgrin: :golden:

Did he still take your insurance info or was he ok with it? Alot of times people that get hit from behind start complaining and sue for back and neck problems. :(

Good to hear you're alright!! Funny thing, I smashed my CTS when I had only 3000kms on it. I was on the highway in the rockies comming from the Okanogan Valley to Calgary and this semi came flying around the corner and swerved into my lane (single lane both ways). I cranked it to the right, caught my 2 wheels in the shoulder, as I tried to counter steer out my ass end got sucked into the ditch and I did a 360 on the highway and hit my front bumper on the cement barrier on the other side of the highway. I sat in the car for like 5 mins b 4 getting out and seeing all the damage.... There was only a small scrape on the corner of the bumper, not even through the paint, I had it buffed out for $50!!!

These cars must stand up pretty good in front end collisions!!

My wife's STS had only 600 miles on it when a GMC pickup rear ended me. Unfortunately, he swerved left at the last minute so I ended up with a busted taillight, but no other significant damage. The rear bumber clip had some paint transfer but that buffed out. The damned tailight cost around $300, though, so I was glad someone else was paying for it.

Thats great, I would make sure there is nothing, clean it off real good, check for spiders in the paint and check to see if you closed the gap at the back of the bumped. It might look right but you might have crushed the brackets just straight back.
If not then the Cadillac gods were watching for you.. LOL...

You might wanna check out underneath though. The front end is made out of flexible polymer and it just flexes back into shape, but underneath there might be some damage. You better check!

This is how 1/2 of the car crash stories start in Mass....

I'm on it every morning as well. :crowded:
Even worse than the mid-lane behavior, I'm always tempted to scoot down the empty right lane. A couple of panic stops later, I usually relearn that lesson.
For the really adventerous, Massachusetts opens up the break-down lanes  to normal traffic during commuting hours. Makes on-ramp merges VERY interesting...
