Hyundai eschews hybrids in Tokyo and unveils V8-powered crossover

Posted Oct 19, 2005, 2:30 AM ET by John Neff

Props go to Hyundai for coming up with a creative way to make a splash at this year’s Tokyo Auto Show: debut a new V8 instead of a hybrid. While many other automakers will probably be showing off their new hybrid drivetrains, Hyundai plopped its new 4.6L V8 destined for the next gen Santa Fe into a crossover concept called the Neos III and called it a day. According to Scoop, the Neos III also features an adaptive front lighting system, infrared night-vision, a heads-up display and trackball controller in lieu of standard HVAC controls.

That might be the new prototype for their upcoming ultra status-luxury car that will be a seperate division to gain the company status. I had a thread on that I started somewhere..
