I have a '98 STS that has air only coming out of the dash, door, and rear passenger vents. Cycling through the airflow modes does not change where the air comes out of. In the Seville, it seems to be above the driver side temperature actuator above the gas pedal but seems almost inaccessible without removing the entire dash. For reference, it seems to be this actuator that has gone bad.

It looks like the other 3 but is attached to a circular white plate. A while back I would commonly hear a creaking/clicking noise coming from the center of the dash shortly before the defrost stopped working and now strangely, that is all it can do. Does anyone know a way to replace this part without having to the entire dash apart in a Seville. The Florida summer is coming soon and I'd rather not have to go through it without air. Any help is much appreciated.
