I am going to replace the hub/bearing assembly on my 1985 DeVille but need to know the size of the nut so I can go get a socket, and I can't find this information in either the FSM or the aftermarket books.... Anybody know?

Later ones are 34mm. '85 is probably the same.

I bought a 34mm deep-well socket from Sears online and it's a hair too small. It's possible that the aftermarket half-shafts that were put on a while back use a different size.

1 hair bigger?- that would be American wrench size of 1 11/32" size American. Could be time to get a great biggy adjustable wrench for the job. that way u can use it for other things too.

It's 36mm deep-well. Amazon has J/T brand sockets (same as Sears and others) for less than $20 shipped.

Nice thing is that my Jeep also uses 36mm so I only need to keep one in the tool bag.
