My father is checking out an 04 srx the dealer has, it's part of a deal for his severly screwed up 00 sts.
I'm curious since we live in NJ, how the 2wd model performs in the snow and other elements.
I'm a mustang guy, so rwd makes me paranoid in the snow, but that's a very low tech car, i'm hoping the caddy is 1000% better, but i'd like to hear from you guys that have experience.

I have an 06 2WD. I live in Wisconsin - lotsa snow. It is surprisingly good - traction control and stabilitrak are quite effective. No problems, go for it...but be careful about the tires. Check them out on one of the tire company sites, like tirerack.com.

I had an 04 CTS with TC, stabilitrak, and a good set of snow tires in Michigan. I used that car as my DD for one winter and had very few problems. I never got stuck, but had a couple challenges on one drifted dirt road and when I came home to my steep driveway with snow over ice. A couple running starts got me to the top and into the garage.

That said, I'm sticking with AWD for my winter DD mainly due to my driveway.
