Hi everyone,

I'm new here. I own a 1986 Cadillac Seville. My interests are making my car into something with a little more power. It's a 4.1 and I know that is a marginal engine for more power but anythings possible.

Stay positive. I will post something next when I am allowed to.

:welcome: Welcome to the forums. Not sure you're going to find much in the way of performance upgrades.

It's a 4.1

unfortunately - the HT4100 motor is a total PIG -
and there isn't anything you can do with it -

Not entirely, IIRC Ranger said you can advance the timing like crazy, but that kind of messes with driveability.

Yup - the cars look decent and are fun to drive around town but the 4.1 is pretty lame with little or no power extras available.

No, you're 1/2-right - I think. Do have a recollection of some info about them responding to ignition work, with details of what to do for best results.

That said, the only real answer is an engine swap.

Fooling with the ignition curves on a 4.1 might net a hp or two in some parts of the rpm/power demand range but it will, in no way, transform a sow's ear into a silk purse.
