Hello Everyone,

I need to replace the left and right Exhaust manifold (CaT converter) on my V8 Engine. I took it to few workshop and they weren't sure if the engine has to come down or not. Can you point me to the link or tell me the procedure as I couldn't find it for V8 engines in this site?

The most difficult part is to remove the exhaust manifold heat shields. Once that is done you have access to the manifold/converter bolts. The other end of the converter is done from underneath and is straightforward.

Thanks for the reply glake89. Does this mean the engine has to come down or move for the heat shields ?

No, but you have to remove or at least loosen a bunch of stuff to get to the bolts that hold on the heat shields. There's only 3 for each side but they're just in bad spots.

I didn't have the time to replace the exhaust manifold, the technician needs some more information now that I took it the workshop. He wants to know if he engine has to be open to remove the manifold ? Service Manual would be apperciated.

I just had mine done at dealer under warranty. 2004 srx v8 awd special coverage until 200k or 12 years.
