Just bought a 08 DTS one owner 58k miles super duper clean! I know this has many more options than some I have seen and the dealer said it was a "luxury package" how do I know more? can I find the build sheet? any help is appreciated.

Take out a $5 subscription to www.compnine.com. That gives you a complete download build sheet for YOUR car plus any 4 others you choose.

Thanks its really nice! I think its the Luxury III but not 100%. I am fairly certain it is not a Performance model. I read a forum post where a guy broke down the available options and if the car has the massaging seats, wooden steering wheel, Navigation, Moon-roof and a few other things then its a Luxury III and mine has all of those options I love this car I am ordering a few things that will make it mine. I am going to mount Vogue's, Chrome Pillars and some Cadillac logo floor mats and should be big pimping! This thing is so sweet!

Since yours is a 2008, I think I can help.

The steering wheel can help with determining the Lux level. If it does not have any wood sections, it should be a LuxI ... if it has the top section only with wood ... it should be a LuxII. Both LuxI and LuxII have a manual tilt steering wheel. If it has the top and bottom sections with wood and it has a power-adjustable steering column (tilt/telescoping wheel) ... then it should be a LuxIII. The LuxIII also has the front seat massage and the Intellibeam headlamp control (a box behind the inside rearview mirror, attached to the mirror mount) ... the LuxI and LuxII don't have those features.

If it's a LuxIII, then you can further determine which edition of LuxIII you have. It can be a standard LuxIII, or it could be a Platinum edition or the Performance edition ... or both. The Platinum edition will have the wood dash and door trim pieces that have an inlaid design and the seats may be a higher level leather. I cannot remember if the 2008 Platinum had the illuminated door sills or if those came later. The Performance edition will have the MRCC suspension and higher output engine. As Soapm stated above, the F55 code on the RPO list will tell you. The 8th digit of the VIN will also tell you. If it's a '9', then it's the Performance edition. All others have a 'Y' in that position.

When I was shopping for my DTS, I searched for a 2008 or 2009 DTS LuxIII, so these were the cues I looked for in my search. The 2006 and maybe 2007 DTS had a bit of a different lineup. Somewhere in 2009 or 2010, I think, the Platinum edition became an option on the Performance edition and was not available on the non-Performance LuxIII.

I attached a few pictures to help.

Hope this helps.

Hi Sneed -
Your question may have already been satisfactorily answered, but here's another way to find out what you've got. Locate the Service Parts Identification label on the spare tire cover and look for a "1S_" code, probably in the last line of parts codes. 1SE is Performance; 1SD is Lux III; 1SC is Lux II; 1SB is Lux I. None of the other codes definitively tell what you've got, but this one does.

Somewhat off topic I know but this very discussion is one reason (among many) I do not like the 2006 - on DTS model from Cadillac. In order to get the car you wanted you had to be very careful to order or to find one with the right option packages or order it correctly.

In the previous incarnation of the full size model you had the DeVille, DHS, and DTS. With each you knew what you were getting. And then in 2006, just as GM had previously done when it applied the up level name to all models in a range (think Impala, Le Mans, Grand Prix, and Bonneville), it renamed all cars DTS thus bringing the "cache" of the DTS to all versions of the car but making it harder to know what you were getting. Whether it was a 'real' DTS (which up to 2005 included the electronic suspension, heated/cooled massaging bucket seats, 300/292HP NS, larger wheels, configurable analog/digital instrument panel, fog lights, etc.) or a garden variety DeVille with the DTS model name applied. And as another replied here GM confused things by alternating from one model year to the next what options packages you had to select what you had to order to get the performance package. It alternated what was included with the Platinum models in terms of the performance package. From year to your you had to figure if the Platinum model included the performance package or not with the uprated engine and suspension so you could get the combination of luxury features with the performance features as you could in a 2004/5 DTS with the Premium Luxury Package. Yes, it can be figured out by looking at past brochures (which I kept as I was considering replacing the '04 DTS) and other sources of information) but it was so much easier when Cadillac let you and others know what you had but the discrete DTS or DHS badge on the back and the subtle alteration of wheels and trim on the outside.

I am all for being able to order options to configure a car the way you like it, but options usually don't count for a lot when it comes time to trade so if you want the uplevel it sometimes nice if there is model that says it all as Cadillac did with the original STS, DTS, and ETC.

And, of course, there was the loss of "White Lightning". Replaced by White Diamond in 2008. Tragedy.

2006 "DTS" is NOT a Deville. That model line was dropped at the end of 2005. Just as Deville had 3 or 4 trim levels, so does "DTS". You needed to know what you wanted at order/buy time. Most buyers that did not special order the car and then wait for delivery simply bought one off the floor got whatever the dealership had floorplanned for that sales period.

You're making a big mistake with Vogue tires ............. Be sure to get the correct tire/wheel specs from www.tirerack.com. You need to keep the same offset, center hub index, bolt pattern, and outside tire diameter - which is determined by the original tire OD, and that is keyed to the speedo and engine controls PCM settings.
