Im a new CTS-V owner, just picked one up last month. I still remember drooling over this car when it was first released and I knew I would have one some day. It only took 12 years for depreciation to do It's thing, but so worth the wait! The car is an absolute blast to drive. I now look forward to my hour commute and to be honest, it's now more like a 45 minute commute. So far I have done a rear trans mount, rear diff bushing, steering wheel position sensor, and a few other odds and ends. My only complaints about driving the car were my worn out shifter (new one arriving tomorrow) and the fact that the center console arm rest was way too low for me. I like to drive with my right elbow resting at a height that makes holding 5 o'clock with my right hand comfortable. I have no idea if anyone else has this same complaint, but if so I shot a quick video that shows my solution:

Youtube link fixed. Clever idea.

If you decide to try another method, a common fix is to ditch the CTS-V's worthless arm rest and replace it with the V6 model's functional arm rest that actually provides storage space. It's taller than the V's arm rest, so it might suit your needs for the height as well as making the center console more useful.

You and I have a similar mind lol.

My buddy and I were discussing this very thing this past weekend.

Our plan was to do almost the same thing.

Now that I see your in action I will get busy this weekend or the next.

I plan on ultimately using a CTS arm rest, but since I'm stuck over here it has to wait until I can junkyard hop next trip stateside.

This will serve a very useful purpose in the meantime.

Thank you for the good clear Video! It's also very cool that it's moderately adjustable. We were planning to use a dowel of brass or aluminum and file down for a exact height I needed for my ape arms to be comfortable.

I agree with Pat, this is a clever solution to the console being a bit low, but I sure do like my CTS version over the CTS-V's.

Three great mods that transformed my '04 CTS-V were ditching the standard armrest for the higher standard CTS armrest, (with storage compartments and custom leather cover with stitching to match the interior ) installing a UUC short throw shifter, (the GM-supplied shifter was a joke) and buying a Corsa exhaust. A fun car with great memories.

I've also got mine apart and am going to have a interior shop use different foam cause this schit is so hard...

Anyways, what rear trans mount and rear diff bushing did you go with?

I'm looking into engine mounts, trans mount, and shifter options...

Thanks for any info.
