interesting....hope I don't have to deal with that crap again.

I went to traffic court once, the office showed up, so I said "yeah I did it but c'mon cut me some slack everyone was speeding" + "I was sorry"

The judge waived the court fee, cut my fine in half......better than nothing i guess.

When I was younger (man I hate saying that) I had 15 tickets, lost my license for 30 days, went to driving school TWICE, did 24 hours of community service and paid countless thousands of dollars in fines and insurance costs.
Then I bought a sport bike and found that cars just didn't do "it" for me.
I really slowed down after that.... on 4 wheels anyway.
I have been pulled over a lot on the bike but haven't got any tickets on it.
Went under a car once and high sided once on some wet pavement, had some pieces fly off at about 120 mph too, that was fun.

Given my record I could have used some tips on how to get out of tickets when I was younger, but I think women do have the advantage in that department.

I got busted doing about 90 on the 101 in LA...I had my radar, but it was a non-radar ticket...2 hot female CHP offficers pulled me over...I have postponed 2 court appearances so far...the next one is in 2/06. I hope the cops don't show up because just like the areticle, I've heard that pacing tkts are the hardest to beat....I might try telling the judge that my speedo was wrong since I have 20" wheels and the cop car probably has 17" so the difference in wheel size in both cars probably made the cop's speedo inaccurate and made him think that I was at 90, while my speedo was at 70...lol

Ah yes, speeding tickets...

I've got 3 of them :)

2 were reduced to broken speedometer, the 3rd the cop (a cousin) "happened" to not show up

yeah.... the joy of being an Italian with a huge family (people you forget you are related to) and lots and lots of connections (old friend of mothers back in the Air National Guard.... or a friend of a friend of my uncle who is a Correctional Officer....).... or living in a small town and when you get pulled over and they see the name you get a simple "Have a nice day".....

....ah yes... that was back in NY though :(... no more connections in FL... atleast traffic violations don't carry from one state to the next (for the most part) so I pay the fine, I am good to go.

I have since slowed down a whole lot though..... going fast only does so much for me, and I was never into going at high speeds (though I do from time to time), I just like to accelerate fast, which is why I am building up a big enigne for the '79 DeVille.... but I would rather have a cool vehicle, something different like a convertible, manual transmission and 4wd, so that I can have all the fun I could want going 20mph off road and not have to worry about getting speeding tickets.... which is why I am getting a Jeep Wrangler next :)

Like Rick, I like to accelerate up to the limit fast. I rarely go more than 10 over the limit on the 50mph streets. In neighborhoods where the limit is 30, I rarely will do 30, and on the freeway, I go about 5-8 mph over. I haven't gotten a ticket yet, I got a oral warning for wreckless driving in my High School parking lot in my Roadmaster. (I was accelerating hard while making tight turns, I didnt do any damage, I just made a lot of noise, i wasn't doing donuts) Anyways, the cop pulled into the parking lot and asked me what I was doing, then he took my licence and put it into his computer, came back and told me not to do it again. And since then, I have been a safer, more conservative driver. And I have never talked to a cop again. I remember, I was doing 60 in a 50 once, and there was a cop on the side of the road standing by his bike, with radar. He radared me and just gave me a signal to slow down. I think the fact I was driving a Cadillac helped this out. This was funny because my friend got a ticket in the same place for doing 5 over in his Ford Ranger. I called him up and told him this, he was quite angry:mad:

How to beat a speeding ticket?

In your home area... Learn your Speed Traps, they are more static than you would think.

On the highway... keep your eyes peeled. Pretty simple.

For example... Wichita, KS... Most of the speed traps there occur on the main drag through town, which is Kellogg/Highway 54. There are about three places from the west side of town to the east side of town where the road comes down from a hill. Your pretty much guaranteed to find cops parked out there plain as day, especially on Sundays. I could literally drive 110mph on that thing in the parts I knew cops never or rarely patrolled and put on my brakes just before the speed trap and sure enough there they were waiting. The couple of times I got caught, I was being absolutely careless and deserved the ticket.

Ive never been caught speeding :)

Not in 31 years :D

And ive driven cars up to their limit on public roads. Its not smart, but its sure as hell fun.

Speed isnt as dangerous as they say it is. It is however, more money making than they say it is.

wow that really dangerous on the cops part. Imagine if somethign was in the roadway and you had to brake quickly, not too worried because you have no idea someone is behind you and them SLAM! I hate how police are so damn careless sometimes. Other times i hate is when cops go through a busy intersection in the middle of the day, but with no siren, only lights.

I had an incident recently with a police officer. I was walking along the side of a road (residential area) on my way to a house i was working on, the road is a bus route, so there is no parking on it, it has speed bumps however.

There is a junction at the end, i was maybe 15 yards away, walking away from the junction, there was a school crossing patrol on the road, i had my MP3 player running so i didnt hear anything, just as i glanced to the traffic patrol, she ran off of the road, directly to my right was a police specification Ford Focus, actually off the ground. Just lights on, no siren. This is a residential area, and the speed limit is 20 mph on this particular road, the police car was travelling at maybe 50+ and had taken off on one of the speed bumps.

It shocks me that an officer, even in an emergency would take such a risk.
