Well it was an interesting experience to say the least. More like oil change from hell. Bought two 5 quarts of Mobil 05/30 and filter cartridge. Took off the engine shroud. Removed the oil filter cap and thought that is neat, my first car with an oil filter cartridge. Looked under the car for the oil plug. Thought turning the wheel to the left would make easier access to the plug. Turned ignition on and turned wheel. Awww crap oil came out the filter cartridge. BP oil spill in the driveway. Hop in Escalade to Walmart and get some kitty litter. Clean it up after oil change, move CTS back out of oil spill, jack up passenger side a little, unscrew oil plug and normally drop plug in the round oil catch pan. Oil shoots over the pan, plug in catch pan, move over catch pan, no prob, just a little more oil to clean up with kitty litter. 6 quarts of oil draining into pan, then notice pan is overflowing!!!!!! Freaking oil plug was plugging up the center drain hole, lol another BP oil spill in the driveway, luckily I bought a big bag of kitty litter. Replace oil plug, replace filter cartridge and tighten both.
Open first 5 quart bottle of oil and start filling with big mouth funnel. Who the heck designs and oil neck with a 90 degree turn at the very top???? A little clean oil overflows. Geez. Attempt to open the second 5 quart bottle....it was impossible!!! I'm pretty good at opening bottles and things, but it wasn't happening by hand. Used screwdriver and claw hammer to get the lid off. Notice a hazy look on the foil and around the inside of the cap. Hmmm? Tear into the foil seal and see on the bottom of the foil Nescafe, Taster's Choice wording????? Look at oil, it's dark old oil and smells old too!! WTH?? Somebody super glued that lid and foil on after using the oil and putting their old oil in back in the bottle. No wonder I couldn't open it by hand. Wow, what a low life wouldn't do to scam/steal $27.
Back in the Escalade, back to Walmart, and exchange for another 5 quart bottle of Mobil One. Luckily I didn't toss the receipt like I normally do, although it's not necessary to have a receipt for return or exchange at Walmart, but it sure helps my story and not make me look like the scammer/thief. Added another quart at home.
Then had to kitty litter two BP driveway oil spills twice to soak it all up and make the driveway presentable again.
Just a little humor for y'all. BTW, I've changed my own oil since my first car back in the late 80's and do most of my maintenance/repairs on my cars, I know right?
I do have 2 93 RX-7's that I modify and maintain, money pit garage queens. The Escalade and now the CTS. I think I've bought a new motorized vehicle every year since 2003 whether it be 2 wheels or 4 wheels. I need to stop buying and selling.
Gonna stay with the Escalade and CTS for awhile and just play with the 93 Mazda RX-7. Have one RX-7 sold in a few months to my nephew.
This is my toy....
