For winter, I'm currently using 235/45/18 (front) and 265/45/18 (rear). The "45" sidewall is a tad too tall in the front and I do get some slight rubbing while turning in the parking lot (at slow speeds). I'm thinking of going 235/40/18 (front) and 245/40/18 (rear) on a set of Quatrac 5 tires. They're classified as "all-weather" tires that earned the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol. This might be perfect for winters in Northern Virginia since 90% of driving from Dec - Mar is on cold dry roads or wet roads just above freezing. Thoughts???

Coming from an STi and having amazing AWD and Blizzaks. How do these handle in the snow with snow tires on?

I only have all-season tires for winter but the car handles fine within their grip envelope. Remember that the car is RWD so will not react the same way as AWD - if you do that, it's fine (many of us have decades of experience when AWD and FWD simply wasn't available and we didn't die).

I live in Ontario, and here are my choices for our 2018 ATS-V Coupe: 255/35R-18 PIRELLI WINTER SOTTOZERO SERIE II RUN FLAT RUN FLAT XL and 18X8.5 ENKEI TUNING TX5 PLAT GREY Alloy Wheels. Cost $2,475 (USD) from Tire Rack last year. Use 35 psi all around (square setup). Love them !! My third Cadillac with Pirelli Runflat snow tires....all good ('08 CTS, '13 ATS, '18 ATS-V).

I'm across the lake from you in Rochester, NY. :) I bought Enkei Tuning Kojin in both 18x8.5 for the front and 18x9.5 for the rear along with Michelin PS AS/3 tires in stock sizes so not snow tires. There's always concern that I may need to be more aggressive for winter but I have another car with snow tires. Since the roads are (almost) always plowed here when driving on them, the use of A/S tires is generally okay (with caution). After all, many of us have driven only RWD cars on tires that were less capable than today's A/S tires, not to mention actual snow tires such as those suggested here. And lived to tell about it... :D

245/40 r18's square. Recommend dedicated rims with an inner-favoring offset (salt and slush spray). I got these via Discount Tire and only have a 1cm spacer on the front. Nokian Hakka R3 rubber...amazing compound.

Was the front spacer required to clear the strut? Or just desired? I have a set of 245/40x18 that came off a CTS we traded in for the ATS-V and I'd like to figure out if the tires will fit on ATS-V spec'd wheels. thanks. Nice pic!

The math shows they would fit fine with no spacers. The spacer would primarily be for extra width and you're going narrower. Height is ~25.7" so taller than stock but I would think that would be ok.

Installed my 245/40x18 square on 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 wheels on my 18 ATS-V for the winter...no clearance problems.
