So I'm about to 50k miles, to be on the safe side I wanted to go ahead and change out the tranny fluid and filter....local shops etc won't do it and kept referring me to the Dealer..I went to 2 dealers and both seem kind of high

Dealer A- Cadillac Dealer
Automatic Transmission Fluid/Filter Change- No Flush- $352.36
Automatic Transmission Fluid Flush/Filter Change Service $469.36

Dealer B- Chevrolet/GMC Dealer
Automatic Transmission Fluid/Filter Change- No Flush- $332.36
Automatic Transmission Fluid Flush/Filter Change Service- $426.36

Almost $500 at the caddy dealer for a Flush and Change??? I'm all for preventive maintenance but man, idk if I can drop $500 on getting the fluid changed

That's crazy, I paid $100 for a fuel change and pressure test at Mark Christopher in SoCal. I'm guessing your getting suckered to use the synthetic stuff, thus the huge price difference. Me personally I wouldn't want to go over 80k miles without a service anyways. I say synthetic isn't needed, so says GM also.

is it cheaper if you buy the fluid elsewhere and just use them for the service?

The Tranny on mine is sealed, I don't want to start messin with it. The invoice shows me an almost 50/50 split of parts and labor on the no flush. Like $160 parts/ $200 Labor.

its that same as the 2.8 isnt it? the 2.8 is the same engine too; the 3.6 has either been bored out or has thinner cylinder liners (i think) to give it the added displacement
