I own a Volvo, and I would like to know if the Escalade is high-quality. If you own one, can you tell me if you have had any problems with it in the past? I have had a S60 since 2002, and I have never had problems with it.

To be honest it is not quite up to the standards of foreign automakers, but American cars have gotten better in recent years. What you should do is look through the topics and see what people are stressing are the bad points and good points. I am not trying to discourage you from buying one, but if I would have found this forum before I bought my 2010 I would never have gotten it, seeing that it was my first American car and all. However there are posts of people who don't have issues with there particular Escalade. Any and all cars can have quality issues but it seems with the new Escalade there are quality control issues. That being said if you are in the market for one give GM another model year to get the bugs worked out. You can also lease one if you feel inclined and at the end of the lease, if your Escalade was trouble free then you can buy it. If it was a nightmare like mine was you can walk away. I hope I was able to help, good luck with your decision.

BTW glad to see you had no issues with your Volvo. Reminds me of my Dads car he still has his 1999 Lexus LS400, not sure how many miles are on it now but I'm know it's over 300,000.

Well...."quality" covers a broad area. In general....you tend to get what you pay for. I really think the quality of my 2015i Premium is outstanding, partiuclarly with referene to "fit and finish" issues....in other words equal to or better than my previous Mercedes. Also outstanding with reference to "performance as advertised. "Long term" quality will have to wait for evaluation!

I have owned/leased my different makes of automobiles - Chevrolet, Volvo, Oldsmobile, Lexus, Audi, Mercedes, Ford and Cadillac. If you are fortunate, you have minimal problems. I had both good and bade experiences with each brand. You need to judge for yourself.....

Get a lightly used 2013 or 2014 as those are nearly bullet-proof and they still look fantastic:

I see these trucks with 200 or even 300k on them all of the time. Can't say the same about a BMW, Mercedes, or a Range. The 2015 Escalade does seem to suffer from issues such as vibrations, but I'm sure Cadillac will fix them for the '16 model year.

I have had VWs, MB's , and Audis. They were the most unreliable cars I have ever owned. My 2015 Escalade ESV Platinum is simply amazing. 3k miles and the only complaint is the camera system. I have never loved a vehicle more. Sorry so many of you are having such problems, but I think you are in the minority.

No matter what anyone buys....you can get a "bad" one....that's true in cars, houses, electronics and spacecraft.....it matters not the amount spent either. Stuff is made by humans and therein lies the possibility of error OR deliberate damage. Live long enough, and any of us will experience it more than we want!

It's the old buyers perception of American cars. My 15 Escalade ESV cannot be compared to any luxury SUV. There is no comparison from Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Range Rover, Lincoln, Lexus etc . Maybe the short version but the ESV wins in the utility segment. It's the size of a 4 bedroom colonial with plenty of space. My 07 had some minor issues and I ran it to almost 130k miles. My 15 has over 10k miles in it and the only issue was the 4wd needed a software update. GM got there act together with this truck. Drive one and let me know your thoughts. My father had a Volvo years back....it was a POS but that wouldn't infuence my decision on buying a Volvo today. Every car company manufactures amazing vehicles today. Buy what suits your needs. I needed a large SUV with luxury touches and performance. Nothing comes close to my ESV.

Thanks so much for your detailed response. I will never buy one now. Our companies need to make better cars. Period.

The Volvo has been great. I love it. I was just thinking about something manlier.
I am very happy with your Volvo. You were lucky. Everyone who has a reliable car says the same. I had a 984 Volvo that literally was reliable and drove it to 250,000 miles. I had a 1993 Volvo that was a POS that was bought back by the company and a 2012 that was reliable and needed only routine maintenence until it was totaled by a semi on I-80. All brands have their problems. Every Eurpean car/truck that I have owned had some electrical gremlins, the worst being a 2005 VW Touareg. I have been trouble free with my 2015i Escalade.

I love our Escalade Platinum.
It has a great deal of state of the art technology.
It has a great deal of style and craftsmanship.
Love the real leather and real wood.

as to quality and reliability of cars:

The most Reliable and Dependable cars consistantly are Toyota and Honda for the Lower Middle Class and
their offspring Lexus and Acura for the upper Middle Class.
Ask any independent mechanic.

Cadillac as a brand is not as reliable as my Toyota Sienna or Toyota in general.

(I ONLY HOPE MY CADILLAC ESCALADE 4WD ESV PLATINUM CONTINUES TO BE DEPENDABLE, RELIABLE, TROUBLE FREE, TECHNOLOGY LOADED AND OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY, SO FAR SO GOOD AT 2000 MILES AND 2 MONTHS).

Quality usually goes to BMW & MB for the Upper Middle Class.
For the Upper Class it is Rolls and Bentley.

Quality for the Middle Class is Cadillac and Lincoln.
Cadillac is positioning itself on moving on up the class ladder from Middle Class to the Upper Middle Class
with real wood and real higher quality leather on many more surfaces and a very high price tag (Mine was $100K).
If the people (LIKE US) pay it, than Cadillac Management and Cadillac Marketing will have been successful on the move up the class and price ladder.
But will Cadillac hold onto that position.
Only Time will Tell.
