How do you activate the front camera?

Other than putting it in reverse, is there a way to turn on the front camera?

You can't as of now, sorry. They might put a setting where you can access the front and side cameras later in the future updates. I asked the service manager about that, he said Cadillac won't do it because it was a DOT issue. It's not entirely true because you can use them when the car is at a complete stop or under 20 mph based from brands like MB and LR.

Eventually in the future it might change. Keep a look out for the updates.

I know when you put it in drive after reversing, the front camera will appear, which is speed limited as well.

On the 2013 & 2014 Mercedes the Bird's Eye View with all 4 cameras works at slow speeds like in parking lots and I believe it stops at around 20 MPH.
On the 2013 Lexus LX570 the passenger side & rear camera only seemed to work when I was in reverse at low speed.

I was in one car that could see around corners more than I could see from the driver's seat..
Probably a fisheye camera on the front of the vehicle that allowed you to see around the corner before you could see it from the drivers seat.
I do not remember which vehicle I was in at the time.
The front camera only worked at slow speeds going forward, like pulling out of a garage.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Our Cadillac Escalade Platinum is days from being built.

VSumner,
Your Platinum should most likely be built by now.
Good Luck with it.
You still might get yours before me, the way things are going so slow.
If the external system is only updated weekly then you might have to wait until next Wednesday.
The Production system is real time as is updated with every entry.
CCC might be able to check internal system that might be updated daily.
External system to Dealers and Suppliers are updated only once per week.

I missed my own build as I was keying on the TPW Changed from 12/15 to 1/5 and did not ask the status.
It was not until 1/5 that I asked someone inside to check on my vehicle and found that it was built 12/17 and shipped 1/2.
Mine still shows the status of IN TRANSIT.
still showing on my dealers inventory.
My small dealer has had a few Escalades and now even has an extra one on display.

Luckily, I have a new Gaggia Accademia Superautomatic Espresso Machine, which arrived yesterday.
Luckily, I drink Decaf Espresso.
Since I set it up yesterday afternoon, I have had a lot of different espresso coffee drinks.
I LOVE IT.

My 2015i Cadillac Escalade 4WD ESV Platinum is still IN TRANSIT.
As It has been for the last 9 days.

Your Platinum is just a few weeks away at most from being in your driveway.
Hopefully, I will have mine by next week.
The train with my Platinum was only about 125 miles away at last check by my dealer, but is making many stops unloading GM trucks from Arlington.
dealer said no ETA for my truck.
Hope your trip went OK.
Yes, I am loving my new Espresso machine.
Even drinking Decaf, I have had too much Caffeine.
It is 2:30 AM and still awake.

From my very limited experience the whole surround camera system is activated at a full stop, changing gears and under about 5 MPH.

The front camera doe snot work even under 5 MPH if you pull into a parking space.
You have to stop.
Shift from D to R which activates the rear and the surround cameras.
Shift from R to D and front camera is activated as well as surround bird's eye view all around the car.

For those of us who use High resolution cameras we have 14 and 16 MP cameras.
I have an ultra high resolution 5K iMac 27" screen to watch 4K or even higher resolution pictures, video, movies & TV.
For us the Surround cameras are relatively poor.
BUT I WAS ABLE TO SEE THE LINES IN MY PARKING LOT AND THE STOPPING BLOCK WITH MY UNIT NUMBER PAINTED ON IT VERY CLEARLY.
THE IMAGES FURTHER AWAY FROM THE CAR ARE LESS CLEAR.

I think there are several things that can improve the images, but this will take several things being upgraded and replaced.
First, is High Resolution Fish Eye Lens.
Second, is High Resolution Camera Image receivers for each lens probably from the ~1MP CMOS receivers to about the current 20MP receivers (STATE OF THE ART IS THE ~50MP HASSELBLAD).
Third, is State of the Art, Gaming Image Stitching SW to Create a Seamless Surround Image (The Best at the moment IMO is the 2016 Bentley Satellite View Camera Gaming 3D Stitching SW that gives the illusion of 8 Cameras. The Lincoln 2016 Navigator and several others will be using the German 3D Surround SW from gaming image stiching SW that looks all around your vehicle, looks at the corners with overlapping images stitched together and also appears to let you change your POW (Point Of View) so you can look under your car's bumpers and corners).
