When I go over a bump I hear a clunking and the steering shacks a bit...could it be due to my heavy aftermarket wheels? They are recently balanced.

Should I put on the stocks and see what it feels like before I take it to the dealer?

It is hard to say, but when I had rims on my Grand Prix it did make a difference.
Are they quality rims?
Does the car continue to bounce?
Could be a control arm problem.

thanx for the response. the rims are Boyd Coddington on brand new Kuhmos. I have to put my stock rims on but I will to see what it feels like.

Broken strut, have it checked at the dealer. I drove, ignoring a loud under hood clunk for two-three months. When I took it in, finally, the service guys were pissed I took so long to bring it in. It is a simple straight forward repair, covered under warranty.
