Ralph,
The "black boxes" you refer to are installed to collect data during an air bag deployment. They record a number of data streams seconds before, during, and after the incident. The information can only be used under a judges order, and is only retrievable by the OEM.

Under a Judges order for now....But some genius in the government will start pushing common useage in the name of public safety and the people ( Pronounced Sheeple ) will jump on the bandwagon in a futile attempt to be coddled by the government from cradle to grave.

What I'm saying here is that I think it's a BAD idea!:banghead:

I agree it is a bad idea. I mean one day they ( cops) could stop you, access the box, and give you a ticket for speeding 3 weeks back.Maybe I sound paranoid but this could happen and other things worse.

Look at the gun laws that we have to live with now! A perfect example! They said in the late '60s that registering guns would reduce gun violence. Has it? NO! Look at the crime rate. They also said that gun registration would "NEVER" lead to outlawing of firearms ownership in the private sector. Now That's exactly what they're trying to do! They've already outlawed certain firearms to the law abiding public. The criminals don't care....They're criminals! Do you think they're gonna abide by a gun law? If you do you're dreaming! The government WILL LIE to you to get what they want....And what they want is TOTAL CONTROL over the general population! Right now they have the Constitution to stop them, But they're working on that too! Black boxes? Yeah, Great idea...Like Onstar just another tool for your conveniance that can eventually be used to control your movements and relieve you of your constitutionally guaranteed freedoms in the name of personal safety.....When did we as a society get so weak at heart?

Paranoid?....I don't think so! I call it vigilant!:burn:

I don't know, I LOVE my 686.
KC's right again. During the WWII the Germans used gun registration lists to go around and collect all the guns in Europe. It's been a long-held opinion that one reason why no one would try to occupy this country is because the population is so well armed.
I KNOW I AM!!!!
Let 'um come, I guarantee at least a 10:1 kill ratio ;)

As do I! The anti gun lobby is to be feared as much as any enemy we have outside the borders of OUR country!

Reminds me of a specific scene in the movie Minority Report where Tom Cruise is a criminal and all of a sudden his car is removed from his control and re-routed towards a police station, not my idea of fun.

It's amazing that we would not see the potential for that given the governments tendency to want to control so many aspects of our personal lives. I mean here in the Peoples Republic of California they're seriously talking about passing a law that says you can't smoke in your own home if you have a child living with you! I don't even smoke and THAT pisses me off! Who do they think they are? If the government ever thought they could use the technology to control us I seriously believe they would! Like I said in an earlier post, We have liberal talk show hosts out here seriously talking about using this technology to shut down your vehicle if you are delinquent on child support or parking tickets and that sort of thing. Once they get their hands on it , Do you honestly think for one minute that they'll let it go?

This is really going to start making people mad. Its only going to be a matter of time until cops can get a thing to access the box. I mean whats next, are they going to be able to control our cars?? If so, Im riding my bike! Its not a car, but at least I CONTROL IT!

This is bull crap!

Wes! Relax....It's food for thought! At this time there is the potential for it and nothing more. We must be vigilant at all times to protect our personal liberty from those who would deprive us of it!.......Self government without self discipline is not possible in the long run!
