I went to Motorsport Technologies, Inc. ("MTI") this morning to discuss a possible tour of their facility to include in a Houston Meet for CTS-V people. MTI is willing to open their shop early on a Saturday morning for us to tour their facility and get answers to our questions on a variety of their services, such as dyno testing and engine modifications. See their webiste at MotorsportTech.com. for more details, including their address and map.

I mentioned to MTI that they might want to become a supporting vendor of the forum.

After that tour perhaps we could go to a local resturant for an early lunch.

At this point we need only pick a date, presumably some Saturday in late September or October and some resturant assuming there is sufficient interest.

Well, we don't seem to have much interest yet, but I suggest we proceed with Saturday, September 22nd as a primary target date, with September 29th as a rain-out/fall back date. Any thoughts -- anyone?

You can get from downtown Dallas to MTI, which is on the southwest side of town but very close to the high speed loop around Houston, in about 4-4 1/2 hours if you never exceeded the posted speed limits. This assumes, of course, that you arrive at a time other than weekday rush hours.

If there is sufficient interest from the DFW camp, we could move the resturant part of the proposed Houston meet back toward I-45 North to facilitate those leaving toward DFW.

Travel over night to maintain a constant speed and you'll make it in about 3 to 3 1/2 depending on which speed U chose to cruise at.

I once had a police escort going from Houston to dallas. He was in a rush somewhere, no lights or siren, so I just got behind him (at a distance) and enjoyed the ride.

Well, let's see --if we had a half dozen or so CTS-Vs coming out of Dallas intent on reaching the west side of Houston in 3 hours -- yes I agree a police escort would likely result.

I tried that about a year ago and got pulled over...no sirens or lights. Just cruising at 85 in a 70 in the fast lane. Of course, i pulled up behind him (at a safe and legal distance) and about 1/2 mile later he switched lanes, let me pass (at me new reduced speed of 70) and then proceeded to ticket me for 85 in a 70. No small talk, just license and registration...then he was back with a ticket.

Yeah if the DFW guys come down, we could do lunch in Conroe or something i'd think... that would cut a good half hour off their time from driving into town.

I will be leaving for Vegas on the 23rd...the 22nd just may work if I can convince the GF. She loves V meets so it probably wont be too tough. I'll see who else in the DFW camp will want to join.
